Blood Moon

“Blood Moon” has been added to the Scenic Gallery on my website: https://chipevra.com

“Blood Moon” was captured in Fort Lauderdale Florida. The scene is a full moon rising on the horizon of the Atlantic ocean during a total lunar eclipse.

Lunar eclipses can only occur during a full moon when the moon, Earth and sun are aligned and the moon passes into Earth’s shadow.  Total lunar eclipses are sometimes known as blood moons because of the dramatic coloring caused by Earth’s atmosphere which scatters light from the sun and “washes” colors of red, orange and yellow on the face of the moon.
