“White Pelicans” has been added to the Animal gallery on my website: https://chipevra.com
The American White Pelican is one of the largest birds in North America.
It is about four feet tall with a wingspan of about 9 feet. It is entirely white except for the edges of its wings which are black. It has a long neck, a long orange bill and short orange legs.
Unlike the Brown Pelican who dive into the water for its food, the American White Pelican floats on the water and scoops up fish and water in its pouch. It holds its head up and drains out the water and then swallows the fish.
American White Pelicans often hunt for food in groups. They will form a line and start swimming towards shore driving the prey towards another group of waiting pelicans.
An amazing and beautiful bird as you can see.
